Veronica Zapata Velez has a psychology degree from CES University in Medellin, Colombia and a masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Marymount University. Veronica works as a school based mental health therapist in a elementary school in Washington, D.C. Veronica has worked on completing assessments, crisis intervention, and individual and group therapy. She also has had the opportunity to work with children and families who have experienced abuse and/or traumatic experiences.
Veronica is currently getting certified in the evidence-based intervention Child Parent Psychotherapy (CPP), and she has received training in Theraplay, Marshack Interactional Method as well expressive arts (play and sand). Veronica believes in the power of healthy relationships as corrective experiences. She is passionate about supporting bilingual and bi-cultural children, adolescents, and adults who have experienced trauma and emotional challenges. Veronica is excited to continue with her passion and development as a person and counselor in the mental health field.
